John Mayer
John Mayer’s Continuum was released in September 2006 and is being called the artist’s finest work to date. No small sentiment, considering the accolades and praise that have been heaped on each of the Grammy winning singer/songwriter’s releases – Mayer has earned five Grammy Awards and sold over ten million albums.
Featuring pop, soul, and blues elements, Mayer’s most recent album showcases rich lyrics, the groove of the guitar-slinging bluesman and the vocals of the soulful crooner. In short – Continuum is a succinct reflection of an artist in his prime.
Rolling Stone Magazine featured John Mayer on their February 2007 cover, naming him one of today’s "New Guitar Gods," and in May 2007, Time Magazine placed the artist on their Time 100 list. The honor acknowledges the most influential contemporary thinkers, leaders, artists and entertainers.
Since his debut in 2001, Mayer has recorded and performed with some of the most interesting and iconic artists on the scene. His many collaborations have defied genre - from rock to blues, hip-hop to jazz to country, he’s played with icons and contemporaries alike. The list includes Eric Clapton, BB King, Buddy Guy, T-Bone Burnett, Herbie Hancock, Dixie Chicks, Kanye West, Alicia Keys and Ahmir Guestlove, among others. In 2005, Mayer famously toured and recorded with power players Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan as the John Mayer Trio, whose live album Try! featured searing blues and rock.
From his acclaimed debut Room For Squares in 2001, through 2003’s Heavier Things, to his work with the John Mayer Trio in 2005, and now with Continuum, the guitarist, vocalist and songwriter has established himself as a musician and collaborator who exceeds genre boundaries.
